The standard mainstream narrative of the war in Syria is that President Bashar al-Assad’s opponents only took up arms after his regime cracked down brutally on peaceful protesters in March 2011. The New York Times, for example, in a piece this week on ISIS reminds that “after a brutal crackdown by government forces, Syrian protest groups morphed into fighters”.
The problem with this narrative is that it is false.
Here’s what the Times is referring to: On March 25, 2011, it described how tens of thousands of peaceful protesters took to the streets and were met with regime violence that killed a reported 38. The protests had begun seven days before (March 18), according to the Times.
Oil produced from fields under the control of the Islamic State group is at the heart of a new investigation by al-Araby al-Jadeed. The black gold is extracted, transported and sold, providing the armed group with a vital financial lifeline.
But who buys it? Who finances the murderous brutality that has taken over swathes of Iraq and Syria? How does it get from the ground to the petrol tank, and who profits along the way?
The Islamic State group uses millions of dollars in oil revenues to expand and manage vast areas under its control, home to around five million civilians.

Far more exists in this universe beyond the shallow three dimensional world we perceive. Have you ever tasted the galaxies on someone’s lips? Saw a glow brighter than the sun in their eyes? Surely, it goes beyond physical connection.
When every kiss you’ve shared is a poem untold; poetry that is lived. What forms that connection is far greater than our understanding of it. Underneath those layers of skin and bones resides a soul that flows into you like a glass of champagne. Where the angels chant your favorite song, and the two of you watch sunrises and sunsets until the sun ceases to exist. Caress me like the waves caress the…

Heading to ISIS, stopped by Iraqi army.
And the moderates have enough missiles, thank you USA. And more bullets than the Dutch army.
Before we forget, there are sane politicians in the US.
I can’t embed this so you have to watch the original.
Have to watch if you want to know anything about Syria.
Wow… and here we go another week full of religion and it’s war on women and their right to breath bloody air. Just why do they hate us so much huh? The repression of women in the religious bigoted world of Islam and Judaism seems to be the issue of the day.

What any street vendor in the Middle East knows and most analysts and politicians in the West completely ignore – or choose to ignore- is that terrorism is not about religion. It’s not about how different “our” God is from “theirs,” it’s not about a painting, a movie, a cartoon, a book, or an article. It’s not even about the freedom of expression. It’s about power— at all levels.”
